The Leakey FFA Chapter was well represented at the Hill District Stock Show this past week in Kerrville Texas. Showing in the AG Mechanics project show was Emilio Navarro. Emilio exhibited a Natural Rustic lamp that he constructed in the Ag Shop at Leakey High School. The judges were extremely complimentary of his workmanship. The lamp received a blue Ribbon for workmanship and placed second overall in the Home Products division of the show. Emilio’s project was the first ever Ag Mechanics project exhibited from Leakey and he is already planning what to bring next year to complete for the scholarships that are offered through this part of the District stock show.
Leakey FFA Members were extremely fortunate in their placing of Meat Goats, Market Lambs and Breeding Swine in the livestock portion of the show. In the breeding Swine Division Olivia Martinez placed 5th with her Hampshire Gilt and Sackett Hohman placed 8th with his Hampshire gilt. Tanner Pannell placed 2nd with his meat goat in the 6th class, Brianna Rubio placed 10th with her goat in the 5th class, and Sydney Auld placed 5th and 6th respectively in her meat goat classes. Ty Pannell and TyTy Gass also exhibited their goats but did not place in the top ten.
Ty Pannell Sackett Hohman and Tanner Pannell exhibited market lambs at the show with Ty excelling with the Reserved Champion Crossbred lamb. Ty also exhibited the 2nd place Light Medium Weight Crossbred lamb.
The Leakey FFA Chapter is extremely proud of the accomplishments and involvement that these FFA members have exhibited this past week and look forward to see their results at the San Antonio, San Angelo and Houston Livestock Shows.
