LEAKEY ISD SEPTEMBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Serena Salazar- This cute little five year old kindergarten student is the daughter of Noe and Cassie Salazar. Mrs. Snow, the kindergarten teacher reports that Serena is very attentive, a good listener, and a very hard worker! Her favorite color is purple and carrots and pineapple are her favorite foods. She enjoys checking out and reading books from the school library. At home she likes to swing from a rope that hangs from a tree in her backyard. We are very proud of Serena and are glad that she is a student in our school!
Chelsea Pendley- This outstanding young lady is the daughter of Henry and Meredith Pendley. Chelsea is an eighth grader at Leakey ISD who loves to read, write and play music. She plays the saxophone in the Leakey Eagle Marching Band and plans to purse a musical career! Chelsea wants to attend college after she graduates from high school. She is a delightful, helpful student who is her own person and loves to “think outside the box”! With her great attitude and bright mind Chelsea will go far in life.
Meagan Clark- This attractive young lady is sixteen years old and a junior at Leakey ISD. She is the daughter of Barbara and D.W. (Dusty) Clark. Meagan participates in the UIL Academic Contest and literary criticism and mathematics are her favorite contests to enter. She is also a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), Future Farmers of America (FFA), and Student Council. She also participates in volleyball, tennis, and band. Meagan also is enrolled in the Canyon School of Dance in the Ballet IV class.
The September Students of the Month were introduced, recognized, and honored at a Leakey ISD School Board meeting held on Tuesday evening, September 15th. In addition to an attractive, framed certificate, each student received a $25.00 gift certificate to either Mama Chole’s Restaurant, Frio Canyon Lodge Restaurant, or Vinnys Italian Restaurant. The proprietors of these three local restaurants donate a $25.00 gift certificate each month that is presented to our Students of the Month! Over the past four years these three restaurants have donated more than $900.00 each in gift certificates. Leakey ISD extends a special thanks to Jimmy and Alma Albarado, Sal and Winnie Vetrano and Walter and Connie Tidwell for supporting our school and students!
